Why the Big Fuss About SEANZ? Here’s Why It Matters for Solar in New Zealand

My Solar Quotes has been a proud member of the Sustainable Energy Association of New Zealand (SEANZ) for over 12 years. So, I thought it was about time I explain why SEANZ is such a big deal in the solar industry—and why you’ll hear anyone involved in solar (including me!) talking it up!
What’s SEANZ All About?
SEANZ is the driving force behind promoting, supporting, and pushing innovation in solar PV and energy storage technologies across New Zealand. It’s the only solar-focused association in the country, leading the charge on New Zealand’s energy transformation and empowering more people to embrace sustainable energy solutions.
To be completely upfront, I’m on the SEANZ board—one of nine passionate folks volunteering our time to steer the industry in a positive, sustainable direction. But even before I joined the board, I was already a big SEANZ supporter. Being part of such a well-regarded organisation allows me to make a difference in the solar world, which I love!

SEANZ is proudly independent of both the government and the electricity supply industry (ESI). It’s a pretty unique and inspiring crowd!
The Big Annual Get Together
Every year, SEANZ brings the entire industry together in one place for the SEANZ Annual Conference, a must-attend event here in Aotearoa. This two-day summit is packed with valuable sessions and events: hands-on technical workshops, best practices for both grid-connected and off-grid systems, and the latest tech and product showcases. Day one wraps up with some lively networking, and on day two, you’ll find innovative case studies, expert panel discussions, industry updates, and (if we’re lucky!) a session with the Minister of Energy.
The grand finale? An awards ceremony followed by a networking dinner—always a highlight and a fantastic way to cap off an inspiring event.
