Our Story

The founder, Kristy Hoare, has an Honours degree in Marketing and has worked in the solar power industry for fifteen years. During this time, she discovered the need for an online solar quote service. The service would pass on reputable information and quotes to solar power shoppers. It would also provide solar power installers with quality leads, a win-win for the industry and its supporters. In 2012 the inception of My Solar Quotes had begun.

Kristy is very passionate about the solar industry in New Zealand.  The industry has had a few setbacks and no assistance from the Government, unlike other western countries.  Kristy uses the website as a voice for people encouraging and helping to grow the amount of solar power in New Zealand.

Kristy is a director on the board for SEANZ (Sustainable Energy Association New Zealand) the solar industry which aims to drive the industry forward in New Zealand. She regularly writes in the blog about industry issues, latest trends and information to help New Zealanders go solar.  Kristy believes that solar power is an ethical business to be in, "solar power is good for the environment and gives the power back to the people."
